Krackerjax, or Crackerjack is defined as a person or thing of marked excellence; a uniqueness or such quality. I chose this name not to define myself or my creations, but to have something to strive for every day.
It all began on a warm summer evening, a long time ago, in a land far away........ just kidding.
I have been crafting with polymer clay and creating jewelry for a few years now (approximately 8) and absolutely love it. It is such a wonderful medium to work with. I actually picked up a ball of clay after my second son was born in 2006. At first, I did nothing more with it than roll it around in my hands. After awhile I thought, "why not make something out of this". It turns out that, not only did I make the most horrific display of a flower, I also kindled a spark within myself to create. I am proud to say that I took that notion and ran with it, pathetic clay flower and all. Soon after, I began making clay ornaments for my family. After finishing a Santa ornament, one of my friends said that I should sell my creations. She offered to take a few to work with her to see how they would sell. I agreed and they sold.... all of them..... the same day. Needless to say the wheels started turning (I knew because I began smelling smoke).
Along with my love of bacon, books and belly laughs, I have an insatiable curiosity, a thirst for knowledge and a lot of ideas (and maybe a touch of ADD) so if it has to do with handmade crafts, I have probably dabbled (or plan to) in one way or another. I love working with my hands and turning nothing into something and if I can make someone smile because of something I have made, well that's pretty cool in my book. My goal is to create unique, high quality, hand made pieces that illicit nostalgia and a smile. Whether it be miniature food jewelry, gamer jewelry, custom cake toppers or geekery, I would love to make something for you and I love taking custom orders! So if you have any gift ideas for yourself, or need a custom gift for someone special then I'm your gal.
I try to use recycled items to make an upcycled piece when creating jewelry and sculptures, along with polymer clay, soft pastels, and a little elbow grease (not really because that would be weird). Basically, if it looks cool, I may use it and I strive to repurpose anything I can to make a multimedia piece of art. My products have thankfully evolved from the " little flower that could", and have since become unique, fun and yes, a little strange sometimes but you only live once, right?! Everything I create is made by hand, from the heart and a little bit of my heart goes into each piece.
Thanks for taking a peek!!
